MESSAGE

Dear surfers, clubs, schools, coaches, and surf judges,

I am running for President of the Portuguese Surfing Federation. I believe this is the moment to give a new boost to a sport that is increasingly rooted in our culture and that, every day, gains more participants, medals, and international recognition.

Portugal has the best conditions, excellent athletes, a passionate community, and unique waves. Now is the time to do more and better. Our team brings a strategic vision to transform our Federation into a stronger, more organized organization that is closer to everyone who lives and breathes surfing.

We will foster stronger connections with decision-makers so that we can work together on national and international projects to develop and enhance the coastal zone, especially surfing.

Together, we will strengthen support for clubs and schools by simplifying procedures and implementing strategies to increase the number of affiliated members. We will create educational programs that allow more children to have their first contact with the sea and provide the conditions needed for under-18 training to thrive and compete at the highest level, with specialized technical support. We need more surfers competing.

We will bring back the Portugal Cup, an event to celebrate healthy competition and unite the various disciplines within wave sports.

In high-performance surfing, our commitment is clear: we will strengthen support for the national teams, invest in training camps, improve equipment, and ensure top-quality medical and technical services. We want our High-Performance Centers to become international benchmarks.

More than just a sport, surfing is a national emblem. We plan to work in partnership with Tourism Portugal to promote surfing as a flagship product, positioning it in high-impact international events.

We believe in an inclusive and sustainable Federation, one that protects our coastline and acknowledges all those who contribute to surfing in Portugal. This team will create the FPS Gala, an annual event to celebrate the athletes, clubs, and coaches who make this sport so special.

Together, we can take Portuguese surfing further. I count on your support to be part of this “Wave of Change.”
